I decided I wanted to be a massage therapist in 2002 after I received my first massage. I couldn't believe how good I felt. I don't remember a time before that when I was so relaxed. At the time, I was looking to take a new direction in my life and had no idea which way to turn. When my friend and co-worker suggested I get a massage, I couldn't have known how it would completely change my life. I knew I wanted to do something I loved, that would help people and also allow me to be mobile (I moved around a lot at the time :)). After a lot of searching, I found my school in Crested Butte, CO - a tiny town in the Rocky mountains that still feels like home, every time I visit. I finished school in 2004 and worked in CO for 2 years before moving home to WV where I met my love, Daniel. That year we moved to CA and moved from Reedley, to Lake Tahoe and in 2010, Hayfork.
Myofascial release is a soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain. The method engages the myofascial tissue and loads it with constant force until release occurs. To achieve this, practitioners can use knuckles, elbows, or other tools to slowly stretch the restricted fascia. The practitioner moves slowly through the layers of the fascia until the deep tissues are reached.
