Direct and indirect soft tissue mobilization techniques are used to reduce fascial tension, restoring normalcy in muscles and surrounding tissue. The aim of MFR is to help the body’s fluids (such as blood and lymphatic fluid) flow smoothly. Keeping fluids flowing smoothly reduces harmful fluid retention and makes the body’s immune system more effective. Fascia is tissue found in all parts of the body including the viscera, and connects all of the body’s structures at both superficial and deep levels. The therapist evaluates the fascia to find areas of restriction, and then uses soft tissue manipulation to make sure the length and tension of the fascia are properly balanced. Throughout the treatment, manual osteopaths continually reassess the state of the body’s tissues.

Manual Lymphatic Therapy is a gentle, specialized hands-on technique designed to stimulate the natural circulation of lymph fluid, reducing swelling (lymphedema) and removing waste from tissues. It involves light, rhythmic, stretching pressure to move fluid toward working lymph nodes. Other benefits include post-surgical reduction of swelling/bruising, boosting the immune system, and detoxification support. During this appointment, Osteopathic techniques may also be included if deemed necessary or appropriate to achieve desired outcomes.
