During your first pelvic floor physiotherapy session, your therapist will take a detailed history to understand your symptoms, daily habits, and goals. This is followed by a movement and postural assessment, and a pelvic floor examination (external and/or internal) to assess muscle tone, strength, coordination, and any areas of tension or discomfort. Based on the findings, your therapist will explain what’s contributing to your symptoms and begin a personalized treatment plan. This may include education on bladder or bowel habits, breathing strategies, manual therapy, pelvic floor muscle training or relaxation techniques, and home exercises.
