*Not billable under insurance* Reflexology is not a foot massage, but an alternative medicine practice from the traditional Chinese medicine system involving application of pressure to specific points on the feet, (and sometimes hands and face). It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet (and hands), with the premise that such work causes a physical change to the related areas of the body. Based on the concept that life force energy (qi - pronounced “chee”) can be hindered due to imbalances in various organs or systems of the body, reflexology uses gentle pressure on these points to remove blockages and promote the flow of this vital energy. The treatment is done using thumb, finger, and hand massage techniques, and can be effective in treating headaches, sinus problems, and stomach issues, as well as helping to restore the flow of energy throughout the body and calming the nervous system. It can also help to cleanse the body of toxins, boost the immune system, increase circulation, and promote healing by balancing the energy in the body. Reflexology can be booked as an add-on to an existing appointment, or as a stand-alone treatment.
