Originally from Mount Moriah, NL, Jessica graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2008 with a Bachelor of Social Work. Jessica has completed clinical hypnotherapy in 2022 and is a registered clinical hypnotherapist. Jessica is also a registered Canadian Art Therapist. Upon graduation, Jessica returned to the Bay of Islands and has been working as a Registered Social Worker in the field of mental health and addictions counselling ever since. With over a decade of experience working with individuals with mental health and addictions in both individual and group environments, Jessica has a wide variety of skills in individualized therapy, group therapy, and addiction assessments. Jessica utilizes various forms of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational, narrative and oral therapy to help clients achieve their desired state of wellness and meet their goals. In 2021, Jessica received her naturotherapist designation from the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada (ACNN) Jessica is a proud indigenous woman and member of the Eastern Door Feather Carriers and incorporates traditional mi’kmaq approaches in her practice where appropriate. She enjoys spending her time engaged in nature, hiking, snowshoeing, off-roading and snowmobiling. Jessica has a love of the arts and enjoys spending her free time making crafts with her young son and cooking up a storm in the kitchen. She is excited to join team Meridian and looking forward to helping her clients find their path to wellness
