The Massage Therapy Company
5-2020 Lanthier Drive, Orleans, ON, K4A 3V4
I have been an RMT since 2003 and I am still so happy with my chosen profession. I had, originally, started a career as a social worker after completing Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Social Work. I worked as a social worker for a time and enjoyed it very much but I soon realized that there was another helping profession even more suited to my personality and outlook on life. Subsequently, I completed the Massage Therapy program with Honours and began my practice. Massage therapy is an effective way to use the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It is useful for treating a large number of physical conditions and, just as importantly, to prevent them. Regular massage therapy treatments will help keep your body functioning at its optimal level. Using a client focused and comprehensive style of treatment planning, my goal is to tailor the massage therapy treatment to your individual needs whether you are looking for relaxation or therapeutic massage- or a combination of the two. My favourite part of this work is having the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. I consider it a privilege that clients allow me to be a part of their health care team. Outside of work, I am kept very busy volunteering for a number of youth sports organizations and being a mom to two (semi!) grown up kids. Now Offering… Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapy Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapy is a very light and rhythmic stretching of the skin in a specific pattern that is designed to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid throughout the body. Lymphatic drainage has been shown to offer many benefits. It can help your body remove waste more efficiently, reduce water retention and bloating, improve digestion and can help reduce inflammation. Lymphatic drainage can also help with relief from headaches, sinus congestion and constipation. Physicians may recommend lymphatic drainage post-surgery as a way of managing post-surgical swelling to reduce healing time and improve surgical outcomes. This style of lymphatic drainage follows the same principles as other styles but with a slightly more vigorous pressure and a series of protocols for the face and the body that can lead to the temporary sculpting effect that has made this technique so popular as a pre-event treatment. Please note that this style of lymphatic drainage is best suited for those experiencing mild to moderate lymphedema. If your Doctor has recommended that you seek lymphatic drainage treatment for severe edema, it is recommended that you seek a Massage Therapist or other Regulated Health Professional that offers Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT), as part of their lymphatic drainage treatments. If you are living with Chronic Congestive Heart Failure (CCHF), active cancer or Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) then a consultation with a therapist offering CDT is also recommended. ASMR Massage ASMR Massage consists of extremely light, soothing techniques designed to help you find that moment of calm needed to activate your parasympathetic nervous system, to help your body relax, to release the stress you have been storing and return to a more balanced state. ASMR sessions may include a combination of aromatherapy, soothing music or sounds, guided relaxation, plus hands-on work that may include soothing touch by the practitioner, hair brushing or combing, face brushing, etc. This service is fully customizable- it can focus on any combination of face, neck, scalp and shoulders and the techniques used are chosen by the client pre-session. Please note that ASMR sessions are not considered massage therapy and therefore are not covered by extended health care plans Complete Face, Neck & Scalp Massage Therapy This treatment uses protocols developed for one of the facial sculpting techniques popularized by natural skin care devotees in LA and Vancouver. Having received many of these treatments myself, I was struck by just how transferable these protocols are to my own Massage Therapy practice. This transformative facial massage treatment is effective for providing relief to those living with headaches, sinus congestion and pain, jaw or neck pain and tension, along with other symptoms related to stress. Each session focuses only on the face, neck and scalp.
