CALVIN YE, RMT Registered Massage Therapist Calvin became a Registered Massage Therapist after graduating from Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy in October 2021. Prior to this, he also earned his Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Toronto. Calvin in driven by being able to provide care that helps clients move to their full potential. He believes in promoting movements that allow clients to reach new heights, and as a result, realize what their body is capable of. As a former Team Canada dragon boat paddler, Calvin understands the value and importance for athletes to be able to function at their full capacity on and off season. Calvin loves continuing to grow as a practitioner, and actively seeks out new experiences and knowledge to deepen his skill set. He has since been trained in the use of contemporary medical acupuncture, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and Neurokinetic Therapy (Level 1). IASTM: Improvements in range of motion, breakdown of scar tissue/adhesions/fascial restrictions, neurophysiological effects (pain perception), and improved vascular response to injured soft tissue by increasing blood flow to the area. Neurokinetic Therapy: Identifies muscle imbalances by using unique protocols to determine which muscles are inhibited and which are compensating for them. This allows us to utilize specific treatment and corrective exercise techniques to restore proper movement patterns and reprogram the motor control centre. Contemporary medical acupuncture: Contemporary medical acupuncture is a powerful complement to massage therapy, enhancing pain relief, reducing muscle tension, and improving treatment outcomes. By stimulating the nervous system and targeting dysfunctional muscles or trigger points, acupuncture can help calm pain, improve circulation, and support tissue healing. When combined with massage, it allows for deeper, longer-lasting results with less strain on the body, making it especially effective for managing musculoskeletal pain, injury recovery, and stress-related tension. When Calvin is not in the studio, you can catch him at the gym or in one of the provincial parks backpacking. Calvin looks forward to working with you!
