James brings a powerful combination of academic excellence, hands-on experience, and a genuine passion for movement to the team. He holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Physiotherapy Studies from the University of Queensland, where he developed a deep foundation in evidence-based rehab and performance care. With a strong focus on musculoskeletal injuries and chronic pain, James has worked extensively as both a kinesiologist and personal trainer. He’s helped a diverse range of clients—from athletes and motor vehicle accident survivors to those recovering from workplace injuries—regain strength, mobility, and confidence. James is highly trained in both exercise programming and manual therapy, and his treatment style reflects a balanced, individualized approach. Clients can expect an active and collaborative rehab experience that includes targeted exercises, hands-on manual techniques (like soft tissue and joint mobilization), and a strong emphasis on education and empowerment. His ultimate goal? Not just recovery—but helping clients come back stronger and perform at a higher level than before. Growing up, James played competitive sports, including inline hockey, basketball, track & field, and golf. His experience as an athlete gives him unique insight into the return-to-sport journey—he understands firsthand the physical and mental challenges that come with injury, and what it truly takes to return to peak performance. This perspective fuels his approach with every client, especially those striving to get back in the game. Originally from South Korea and raised in the Tri-Cities and Maple Ridge, James continues to live an active lifestyle. Outside the clinic, you’ll find him on the golf course, shooting hoops, snowboarding, hiking, or strength training at the gym.

Physiotherapy - Initial Assessment

A 60-minute Physiotherapy Initial Assessment is designed to thoroughly understand your condition and create a personalized plan to help you reach your health goals. During your first visit, your physiotherapist will begin with a comprehensive assessment, which includes discussing your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and goals for recovery. This is followed by a detailed physical examination to assess movement, strength, mobility, and any areas of pain or dysfunction. Based on these findings, your physiotherapist will explain the cause of your symptoms and how they relate to your body and movement patterns. Together, you will collaborate on a personalized care plan designed to support your recovery and help you achieve your healthcare goals. Our clinic specializes in manual therapy, soft tissue release, and active rehabilitation, and treatment may begin during the same session. When appropriate, your physiotherapist may also incorporate additional techniques such as IMS dry needling, sport taping, or shockwave therapy to support your recovery. Our goal is to ensure you leave your first session with a clear understanding of your condition, a structured treatment plan, and the confidence that you are on the right path toward recovery.
