Gerald graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, where he developed a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, body movement, injury rehabilitation, and injury prevention. His education at UBC helped build a strong foundation for his work in massage therapy, while his hands-on experience with sports teams further shaped his understanding of how the body moves, recovers, and performs. As someone with a background in basketball and powerlifting, Gerald brings a personal understanding of athletic performance, recovery, mobility, and injury management into his massage therapy practice. He later graduated from West Coast College of Massage Therapy, where he continued to develop his clinical skills through a variety of practical treatment settings. During his time at WCCMT, Gerald gained experience working with a diverse range of clients, including varsity athletes from Douglas College and individuals living with multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and patients with various other conditions. These opportunities helped him develop a flexible, compassionate, and client-centred approach to care, allowing him to tailor his treatments to each client’s unique needs and goals. Gerald’s treatments may incorporate Swedish massage, deep tissue work, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and therapeutic exercise recommendations, depending on each patient’s individual situation, needs, and goals. His approach focuses on easing pain and muscle tension, improving mobility, supporting recovery, and helping patients maintain their overall health and well-being. Outside of work, Gerald enjoys staying active through basketball, powerlifting, and hiking. He is fluent in English and Tagalog, and is currently learning Spanish.
