PT, BSKin(H) PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPY Maria is a physiotherapist who focuses on treatment of pelvic floor disorders. She completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology with Honours from Acadia University and went on to complete her Masters in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University. During her time at Acadia, Maria found her passion for helping others by working as an Athletic Trainer with the Varsity Men’s soccer team. She then went on to work with various sports teams in various sports such as soccer, basketball, hockey, volleyball and rugby. Maria has taken advanced courses in pelvic health where she learned to integrate her sports knowledge to assist treating athletes and general population with pelvic dysfunctions. Maria believes that no one should be limited by pelvic dysfunction and considers various treatment options to help her patients continue living a healthy lifestyle. Maria treats patients who have conditions such as incontinence, prolapse, ano-rectal disorders, painful intercourse, pelvic and perineal pain. She also works with patients during pregnancy as well as post-pregnancy. Maria will work with patients to achieve goals through specific and functional exercise, soft tissue release techniques, acupuncture/dry needling pelvic health education and joint mobilization. When Maria isn’t in the clinic, she enjoys long hikes with her dog, cooking and traveling. You will also find her volunteering with adults with intellectual disabilities with Special Olympics as well as staying connected to her Italian heritage through the local Italian community.
