I have drawn the lucky straw in this life in that I am an individual that truly loves her career. I attended the Vancouver campus of the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) in the 1990s. I grew up in Edmonton and received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Sociology of Medicine Major. This multifaceted degree increased my ability to connect easily with people from all ages and walks of life. I was very fortunate to start studying with John Barnes via his Myofascial Release courses almost immediately after WCCMT graduation. John’s courses took place in beautiful places around the world. His work definitely gave me a foundation for the fascial treatments I share now. I added some layers of fascial study with Applied Tensegrity and courses designed by the Osteopath Jean-Pierre Barral. The post graduate studies I have taken all meld together and affect how my hands connect with your body when we are in session. In my youth I played a lot of softball and basketball with a little bit of rugby mixed in. I also was fortunate to study piano and played in concert and jazz bands and have sung in many choirs. I am very happy to say that I am still singing in a choir. These pastimes definitely increase my understanding of athletes, musicians, dancers, yoga teachers and everyone in between. When my kids ( now teens ) were small I was able to study Group Fitness and also became a Bellyfit Instructor. Busy motherhood saw those skills put aside but they still affect the kind of personalized remedial exercise I like to offer. My homecare empowers my patients to continue caring for themselves at home long after our treatment has ended. I am tremendously pleased to share that as of this summer I will be connecting with WCCMT students at the Victoria campus as a Clinical Instructor. It feels lovely to be coming back to my roots in this profession. I look forward to meeting you where you are at.
