Kelsey grew up in Michigan, splitting her high-school years between Colorado and back home, where she competed in wrestling and finished as the Women’s Nationals Runner-Up at 103 lbs. She went on to the University of Michigan, earning both her BSE and MSE in Mechanical Engineering, all while coxing for the rowing team and managing the Michigan Wrestling program from 2004–2010. After engineering, Kelsey chased adventure. She moved to Costa Rica, where she spent three years coaching surfing and repairing boards—a chapter that pushed her deeper into movement, coaching, and hands-on problem-solving. That path eventually led her to Hawai’i Pacific University, where she completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy and merged her engineering mind with human performance. Kelsey brings over 30 years of climbing experience and 15 years coaching athletes from brand-new climbers to national competitors. She’s built youth climbing teams, introduced strength programs, and helped shape training systems that improve performance while reducing climbing-related injuries. She’s also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu purple belt, both a competitor and coach, which gives her rare insight into the demands of grappling, joint loading, and return-to-mat rehab.
