I work with a lot of individuals that prefer deep tissue massage along with patients that prefer more of a sports medicine approach. I am good at using my discretion regarding when to use deep tissue pressure or if I need to switch my approach to another modality. I am realistic with patients about how to approach their concerns while compassionate regarding their needs. I gravitate towards using hydrotherapy, such as hot and cold stone therapy. Most of the time I use hot stones for relaxation, however, I sometimes use contrast stone technique (using cold & hot stones at the same time) to help release trigger points (aka “knots”). I also like to use PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) stretching to help with stubborn contracted muscles along with using joint mobilisation to help create space within the joint when compressed (eg. neck joints) or more movement (eg. knee joint) Felicia’s journey into the health and wellness field began as a personal trainer around 2010. Throughout those years, she developed the belief that wellness was more than about the physical body, and to achieve overall wellness the mind and spirit aspects must be taken into consideration too. This belief is what led her to further her education towards taking a more holistic approach to her client’s well-being, graduating from CSNN as a Holistic Nutritionist in 2013 and completing her Reiki Second Degree in 2018. On a more personal level, Felicia became a mom to a baby girl in 2011. Her girl is her biggest inspiration to continuously move forward to be the best version of herself. Eventually, this inspiration led her to train herself and others for various fitness events like, Femsport, and Tough Mudder. While all these experiences contributed to her decision to pursue a career in massage therapy, a close look into her dear friend’s journey with cancer played a substantial role in this final decision. During that time, she witnessed many health care professionals cross her friend’s path, however, the effects the massage therapist had on her friend’s well-being were most memorable. It was during these appointments that her friend experienced the longest periods of momentary mental peace and physical relief. Witnessing this ignited in Felicia an even deeper passion to support others along their health and wellness journey. Fast forward to today, Felicia enjoys spending time with her family, keeping her body strong, being a Lord of the Rings nerd (plus other nerdy things), and going to rock concerts with her husband.
