Sport has been a constant throughout Dr. Sylvianne Poirier's life and continues to shape the way she approaches chiropractic care. From competitive figure skating and university rugby to her current passion for CrossFit, she has developed a firsthand appreciation for movement, physical performance, injury recovery, and the importance of being able to participate in the activities you enjoy. Growing up in Redvers, Saskatchewan, Dr. Poirier began figure skating at a young age and competed at a high level throughout her teenage years. It was during this time that her own experiences with chiropractic care first sparked an interest in the profession. After many years on the ice, she transitioned to rugby, playing both club and university rugby while attending the University of Regina. Dr. Poirier completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology and Health Studies at the University of Regina before attending Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota. She earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2019 and, while at Northwestern, also completed her Chiropractic Acupuncture certification. Today, CrossFit provides Dr. Poirier with a new athletic challenge. She enjoys the combination of gymnastics, weightlifting, strength, and cardiovascular training, as well as the complexity of bringing those different elements of movement together. Her varied athletic background gives her a unique appreciation for the demands placed on the body across different sports and activities. That experience carries over into her clinical approach. Dr. Poirier recognizes that pain and injury can be influenced by a variety of factors and believes care should look beyond symptoms alone. Understanding how a problem affects a patient's work, recreation, training, and everyday life helps her develop an individualized treatment plan focused on improving movement, function, and recovery. Dr. Poirier draws from a broad range of treatment options depending on the needs of each patient. These may include chiropractic adjustments, instrument-assisted manipulation, soft-tissue therapies such as FAKTR and MRT, chiropractic acupuncture, laser therapy, rehabilitative exercise, taping, and movement education. She also has training and experience in adapting chiropractic care to the needs of patients during pregnancy. Her kinesiology education and extensive involvement in sport make working with active individuals a natural fit. Dr. Poirier enjoys caring for everyone from people managing everyday aches and pains to recreational exercisers and competitive athletes. Her focus is on helping patients recover, move confidently, and build the capacity to return to the activities that are important to them. Dr. Poirier is proud to provide chiropractic care to patients in Regina and the surrounding area while maintaining the Saskatchewan roots that have been part of her story from the beginning. She strives to provide practical, individualized, and evidence-informed care that helps patients stay active and work toward their health and performance goals. Outside the clinic, Dr. Poirier enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her husband and their two children.
