Mhairi graduated from Queen’s University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Therapy, and again in 2007 with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. During this time, she was on the varsity women’s track and field team competing in both running and throwing events, while also having to tend to her own injuries during her athletic journey. She has taken widespread post-graduate training in manual therapy, orthopaedics, and sports physiotherapy; she currently holds her Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy through Sports Physiotherapy Canada, a Certificate in Neuroanatomical Acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute, and is a Certified Gunn IMS practitioner. Mhairi has been working as a physiotherapist for over 18 years and has extensive experience working with athletes of all levels, screening for injury prevention and performance optimization, post surgical rehabilitation, motor vehicle accidents, low back and pelvic girdle dysfunction, as well as many other general orthopaedic and chronic conditions. Using sound clinical reasoning, Mhairi enjoys providing comprehensive treatment that meets each individual’s specific needs to optimize their function and therapeutic goals. This includes patient education, specific exercise prescription, manual therapy, acupuncture, IMS, taping, electrotherapeutic modalities, and importantly empowering clients to manage their condition and rehabilitation process outside of the clinic. She also has a special interest in helping her clients accelerate their healing at a cellular level with the use of the Bioflex lower intensity laser therapy system. Mhairi is looking forward to completing her yoga teacher training, and additional pre- and post-natal exercise coaching certification. Aside from working in the clinic, Mhairi has also had the pleasure of working on the sidelines as a Physiotherapist and First Responder with various teams; these included highschool senior boys basketball, highschool football (Terry Fox Secondary), Team Canada Women’s Field Hockey, Coquitlam Express Junior Hockey, United Men’s Rugby, and Team BC U18 Football at the Canada Cup and US Army Bowl. Originally from Kamloops, Mhairi has recently returned to be closer to family and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle Kamloops has to offer. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring nature and camping, weight lifting, playing basketball, mountain biking, and discovering sound healing.
