Amy completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology and Master of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia. She has always been passionate about pursuing a career in the healthcare field because she wants to help make a difference in improving people’s quality of life. After having a very positive experience from going to physiotherapy herself, it really inspired her to want to do the same for others. She believes in helping clients reach their rehabilitation goals through using a combination of education, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercise. She uses an educational and evidence-based approach to empower clients to be active participants in their rehabilitation. From her clinical experience, she saw how one’s function and quality of life can be deeply affected by pain and injuries. Therefore, Amy really hopes to help everyone move pain-free so that they can participate in activities that they enjoy doing again! Amy believes in lifelong education and will be pursuing courses in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Orthopaedic Division and in other areas to expand her therapeutic skillset. She is also fluent in speaking Cantonese. Outside of the clinic, you can catch Amy exploring different food options in the city or hopping on the plane to her next travel destination. She likes to stay active by working out at the gym, playing volleyball, snowboarding, hiking, running, or participating in any workout class that is going to give her a good sweat!
A 60-minute Physiotherapy Initial Assessment is designed to thoroughly understand your condition and create a personalized plan to help you reach your health goals. During your first visit, your physiotherapist will begin with a comprehensive assessment, which includes discussing your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and goals for recovery. This is followed by a detailed physical examination to assess movement, strength, mobility, and any areas of pain or dysfunction. Based on these findings, your physiotherapist will explain the cause of your symptoms and how they relate to your body and movement patterns. Together, you will collaborate on a personalized care plan designed to support your recovery and help you achieve your healthcare goals. Our clinic specializes in manual therapy, soft tissue release, and active rehabilitation, and treatment may begin during the same session. When appropriate, your physiotherapist may also incorporate additional techniques such as IMS dry needling, sport taping, or shockwave therapy to support your recovery. Our goal is to ensure you leave your first session with a clear understanding of your condition, a structured treatment plan, and the confidence that you are on the right path toward recovery.
