Myles completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary and a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta. Sport and physical activity has always been a big part of Myles’ lifestyle. He has competed in many sports but predominately was a competitive speed skater and competed in three Canadian Olympic Trials. He is occasionally still involved in speed skating as a physical therapist for the Norwegian speed skating team during World Cup events. Myles has had a lot of exposure to the assessment of acute sport related injuries. His fascination of the human body has also led him to have an interest in treating a wide variety of conditions. He has experience and course work that includes the treatment of hands, shoulders, persisting symptoms following concussion, vestibular conditions, running injuries and tendinous injuries. His philosophy is to empower patients by reinforcing that the human body is more adaptable and resilient then it is often given credit for. Myles acknowledges that the treatment of pain is complicated and multi factorial. He believes that in order to return to activity following injury, one must gradually expose themselves to tasks that eventually meet or exceed the demands of that activity. Not only will this ensure tissue adaptation, it will also allow someone to build confidence in achieving their goals.
