Her approach is gentle, evidence-based, and tailored to each patient’s stage of healing and medical history. Irina is also highly experienced in the treatment and management of venous disorders, including varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency. Her work focuses on edema reduction, circulation support, symptom relief, and prevention of disease progression, integrating manual lymph drainage, compression therapy, lymph taping, and patient education to promote long-term vascular health. In addition, Irina provides specialized care for post-surgical and post-traumatic conditions, including recovery following plastic and reconstructive surgery, gender-affirming surgery, lipedema surgery, cancer-related procedures, and other surgical interventions. She also treats orthopedic and soft-tissue injuries, such as knee injuries (including meniscus tears and ruptures), joint trauma, muscle strains, ligament sprains, and other musculoskeletal conditions, supporting pain reduction, swelling control, tissue healing, and functional restoration. Lymphatic Drainage

MLD (Manual Lymph Drainage)

MLD, or Manual Lymphatic Drainage, is a gentle massage technique designed to stimulate the flow of lymphatic fluid in the body, aiding in detoxification and reducing swelling. This therapeutic treatment is often recommended for conditions like lymphedema, post-surgery recovery, trauma, bloating, constipation, anxiety, and depression. Moreover, MLD is covered under extended benefits, ensuring access to this effective therapy for those seeking relief from various health issues. However, there are certain contraindications where MLD may not be suitable or safe. Here's a list of common contraindications for MLD: Acute Inflammation: MLD may exacerbate acute inflammatory conditions such as cellulitis or acute infections. Malignancies: MLD is generally contraindicated in the presence of active cancer, especially if lymphatic involvement is suspected, to avoid potentially spreading cancerous cells. Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): MLD is contraindicated in individuals with known DVT or a history of blood clots, as it may dislodge clots and lead to complications like pulmonary embolism. Acute Heart Failure: In cases of acute heart failure, MLD may overload the cardiovascular system and exacerbate symptoms. Acute Kidney or Liver Failure: MLD may not be suitable for individuals experiencing acute kidney or liver failure due to the potential for fluid overload. Acute Infectious Conditions: Active infectious conditions such as fever, flu, or systemic infections may be worsened by MLD. Active Skin Infections: MLD should be avoided in areas with active skin infections such as cellulitis or abscesses to prevent the spread of infection. Untreated Hypertension: Uncontrolled hypertension may be exacerbated by MLD due to its potential to increase circulation and fluid movement. Thrombophlebitis: MLD is contraindicated in cases of thrombophlebitis (inflammation of a vein with blood clot formation) as it may dislodge clots and cause further complications. Open Wounds or Burns: MLD should be avoided over areas of open wounds, burns, or recent surgical incisions to prevent potential irritation or infection. Acute Illness or Fever: MLD should not be performed during acute illness or fever, as it may strain the body's resources and exacerbate symptoms. Pregnancy: While MLD can be beneficial during pregnancy for certain conditions, it should be avoided in cases of high-risk pregnancy or if there are any complications such as pre-eclampsia. It's essential for individuals considering MLD to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, such as a lymphedema therapist or a physician, to assess their suitability for treatment and to ensure their safety and well-being.
