Dr. Lianne Farber is a Boston area, Active Release Technique (A.R.T.) certified Physical Therapist with a passion for treating and preventing orthopedic and running-related injuries. Her mission is to utilize the full extent of her professional knowledge to help others move through life at their full potential. Lianne grew up on Long Island and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she went from a walk-on to a 4 time all-American cross country and track and field athlete before graduating from Tufts University School of Medicine with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Prior to her career in physical therapy, Lianne was a professional runner for Team New Balance Boston and the NorCal Distance Project specializing in the 1500m distance and qualified for 5 USA Track and Field National Championships. During Lianne’s professional career she trained alongside Olympians Kate Grace, Elle Purrier, Heather MacLean, Cory McGee and Kim Conley. Lianne has personal best times of 4:11 in the 1500m and 4:28 in the mile. Other career highlights include her top 10 finish at the 5th Avenue Mile and her 2:40 debut marathon at the California International Marathon in 2022. After 20 years of competitive distance running and countless injuries, Lianne found her true passion in helping others prevent injury and continue doing what they love. Having had many setbacks of her own including a near career-ending foot fracture, she is able to empathize with the many emotions her patients face while dealing with injury and use her personal athletic experience to help keep them active and pain-free. When not in the clinic, Lianne can be found running many miles along the Charles and with the Tracksmith Boston Hares. She is having fun trying to move up in race distance and has a goal of qualifying for the Olympic trials in the marathon.
