Marcel Miura is a Registered Physiotherapist with over 17 years of clinical experience, currently practising in downtown Vancouver at Connecta Physio. Originally from Brazil, he completed his degree at the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas in 2008 and obtained his Canadian registration in 2016. Marcel specialises in Fascial Counterstrain (FCS), a precise, evidence-informed manual therapy that works with the nervous system to release pain-generating reflexes throughout the body’s tissues and organs. He is currently the only FCS-trained physiotherapist practising in Vancouver, and his work regularly attracts referrals for complex and treatment-resistant presentations. His treatment approach integrates FCS with complementary modalities including Dry Needling, Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Neuromeningeal Manipulation, and Muscle Energy Technique. These are chosen selectively based on each patient’s needs rather than applied as a fixed protocol. Marcel has a particular focus on chronic pain, musculoskeletal injuries, and complex systemic conditions. He frequently works with patients managing Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, POTS, chronic fatigue, IBS, pelvic floor dysfunction, and persistent headaches, as well as those recovering from sports injuries or dealing with longstanding spinal, shoulder, neck, or knee pain. His practice is built on the understanding that the body’s systems are deeply interconnected and that lasting recovery often requires looking beyond the site of pain. This appointment is designed for patients with more complex or long standing conditions, or for those who need assessment and treatment of multiple areas of the body. The additional time allows for a more detailed evaluation, extended hands on treatment, and a comprehensive treatment plan, particularly when several areas or contributing factors need to be addressed.
