Please phone John @ (250) 540-8568 to book appointments. John’s approach to Massage Therapy is to determine- through orthopedic, neurological, postural, and functional assessments- the underlying reasons and causes of a patient’s pain and dysfunction. In understanding what the body has experienced and is currently experiencing (injuries, habits, work, recreational activities, etc) John uses specific techniques to target symptoms and underlying problems. He works with the involved joints, muscles, and fascia to decrease pain, restore musculoskeletal balance, and improve function. John believes that stretching and targeted exercises are an important part of every treatment and homecare regimen. John has been practicing Massage Therapy for 21 years after graduating from the 3000 hour, 3 year program at Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy (OVCMT) in 1999. After practicing in Kelowna for a few years, he made his way to the north Okanagan and back to the College, serving as a Student clinic Supervisor and eventually as a Teaching Assistant for Special Techniques. Over the course of 16 years he progressed to teaching 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year courses, and as an Examiner for practical exams. He is currently teaching Joint Mobilizations, as well as participating in practical exams. Including teaching students, John has also developed and taught several continuing education courses for RMTs, and is planning more in the future. John has taken additional training in Clinical Orthopedic Assessment, Myofascial and Visceral (organ) release techniques, Joint Mobilizations, Muscle energy technique, and Cranial Sacral techniques; he continues to develop his skills in these areas. As a longstanding Okanagan resident, John enjoys the numerous amenities that our region has to offer: hiking, fishing, kayaking, swimming, and good food!
