Sam grew up playing basketball and hockey competitively. An injury during hockey practice at the age of 12 forced him to seek some medical help. Instead of seeing a physiotherapist, his father brought him to a chiropractor and this is when he realized his career path. He coached grade 6 and 7 basketball for three years during high school and coached grade 9 and 10 during his studies at the University of Fraser Valley. During his last three years at the UFV while working towards a degree in Kinesiology, he was the athletic trainer for the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds of the Major Midget League. After obtaining his degree he worked as a Kinesiologist and personal trainer for 7 months before heading off to Palmer West in San Jose to obtain a doctorate in chiropractic. He currently spends his free time lifting weights, playing hockey, golf and basketball, and binge watching TV shows. Dr. Buttar practices using a diversified technique including instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and exercises to further help patients reach their goals.
