Now offering services for fitting people and ordering compression garments for chronic edema. Combined decongestive therapy (CDT,) is a treatment consisting of manual lymphatic drainage, therapeutic compression bandaging, exercises and skin care used to reduce volume and maintain health of an edematous area. Lymphedema is chronic swelling in the soft tissue caused by damage to the lymphatic system and it is not able to absorb the normal lymphatic. Primary lymphedema has no known cause, we can see it onset at birth, puberty, pregnancy or menopause. Secondary lymphedema has a known cause, most commonly we see this after the surgical removal or a lymph node. We see this often with cancer. We can also see it from surgeries, injuries, infections, burns and trauma. There is no cure for lymphedema, only management. This is CDT! This service is geared toward people with lymphedema, chronic venous insufficiency and lipedema. Manual lymph drainage is also very beneficial when applied pre and post op for knee and hip replacements, burns, sinusitis, migraines, sprains and strains.
