Andrew’s interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine first began in 1996 when he was introduced to Tai Chi. From this chance encounter a deep interest in what is termed the Taoist Arts began. The practice of Tai Chi soon led to Qi Gong and the study of Meditation. This natural progression continued and in 2005 Andrew took the leap and began his formal training in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Without realizing it Andrew had taken the traditional path to Acupuncture by studying Qi Gong and Meditation first, a path which is common in Asia but not so in the West. This approach provided a strong foundation in the philosophical underpinnings of Traditional Chinese Medicine and soon led to the study of what is termed “Classical Acupuncture”. Andrew’s approach was also influenced heavily by Taiwanese and Japanese acupuncture, resulting in a style which is both gentle and effective. He is also experienced in Gua Sha, a treatment that is similar to cupping in that it treats pain and stagnation. It can also be compared to the Graston Technique that chiropractors do. Like cupping, light bruising may occur afterwards which is a sign of stagnation being resolved. Andrew has successfully treated a wide range of conditions including but not limited to, musculoskeletal issues, migraines, asthma, allergies, IBS, anxiety, depression, fertility and chronic fatigue. Andrew Dulcamara studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in Calgary, Alberta at the Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is a registered Acupuncturist.
