Dr. Mikaela Smart is a licensed chiropractor who was inspired into the profession through sport. She attended Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. where she obtained her Bachelor of Human Kinetics with a focus in the Kinesiology stream. While at TWU Dr. Smart ran track & Field and Cross Country and found that chiropractic care helped keep her going and injury free throughout her 15 year running career. When she decided to hang up the laces she decided to pursue her Doctorate in Chiropractic from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. Before heading to UWS, Dr smart worked with and gained extensive experience working on the side lines with various local sports teams. To name a few, Dr. Smart has worked with football, lacrosse, rugby and hockey teams. Dr. Smart is committed to providing the best possible evidence-based care for each and every patient. Techniques she uses are, but not limited to; diversified adjusting, manual therapy, and rehab exercises. Her expertise includes sport related injuries and concussion management. Dr. Smart believes that using a variety of different treatment methods in one’s treatment plan is the best way to optimize patient health and wellness. In addition, Dr. Smart individualizes her treatment plans and works with patients to decipher what the best course of treatment is and always makes changes when needed. Being able to see patient progress and provide the best possible care is Dr. Smart’s favorite aspect of being a chiropractor. Outside of the clinic you won’t find Dr. Smart running very much anymore but her passion for health and wellness remains as she enjoys weight lifting, skiing and pilates!
