Matt received a Specialized Honours degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences from York University, Toronto, and is a Registered Kinesiologist. He is a sought-after expert in exercise, rehabilitation, and sport performance. A long-standing member of the Medical Advisory Group and Sports Science consultant to Ontario Soccer, Matt has a wealth of experience working with provincial- and national-level athletes. This list includes a number of Olympic gold medalists in multiple sports, and FIFA World Cup players. He has worked alongside Liverpool FC of the English Premier League and AS Roma of the Italian ‘Serie A’ during their visits to Toronto, and has been a regular on-field medical team member for FIFA competitions; these include the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015, and the 2014, 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying games. Over the years, Matt has contributed to the profession of kinesiology by holding a number of committee roles with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (Item Writing, Exam Prep Guide, and Examination committees) and currently sits on Council, which acts as the Board of Directors to the college. Matt’s experience includes over 15,000 hours of exercise consulting, prescription and coaching with a broad cross-section population, ranging from beginners through to athletes performing on a global stage. His rehabilitation experience expands to over 200 ACL reconstructions, and over 300 joint replacement and arthroscopic procedures. Over a number of years, Matt has devoted his time to improving client care and safety, and spearheaded a multi-disciplinary, collaborative rehabilitation program at one of the largest stand-alone health clinics in North America. His professional interests are in applied exercise science, post-operative rehabilitation, and quality improvement in healthcare.
