Physiotherapy, as a career, was the best choice possible for me. I love helping patients return to doing what they love, whether it’s playing with their kids or tackling an ultra-marathon. I love digging to the root of the issues and working with patients to find a solution. Over the 25 years I’ve been practicing, I’ve been an avid learner, first focusing on manual therapy (hands on physio treatment), then I moved onto understanding the role our core muscles play in movement and what happens to those muscles when they become inhibited or weak. I went on to learning IMS (intramuscular stimulation, a form of needling using acupuncture needles to release tight muscles ) to further assist patients in moving with more ease. I went on to being keen to learn how to use ultrasound (high frequency sound waves) to image/look at the core muscles and then tendons and other tissues around the body- sooo interesting! My journey of learning continues as I continue to try to understand how we move (when in pain and without). I have a current obsession with trail running so especially love working with running-types or wannabe runners!
