Dr. Katherine Chung, ND, RAc is a naturopathic physician and registered acupuncturist who has a passion for learning, educating, and optimizing her patients physical and mental health to achieve their health goals. She realized early on that a holistic approach to medicine is required to achieve effective, sustainable changes. Dr. Katherine graduated with honours from both the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine (for her naturopathic medical degree) and Central College (for her acupuncturist degree). She has also completed a 2 year residency in Naturopathic Medicine at CCNM-Boucher with a clinical focus in mental health, pain management, and digestive health. Dr. Katherine has extensive training in IBS/IBD training and pain management techniques (including neural therapy, therapeutic Botox, IMS/Dry Needling, Electroacupuncture). Although Dr. Katherine has a general practice, she has a special focus on: Digestive health - Dr. Katherine has an advanced understanding of the complex nature of digestive conditions. Her goal is to find sustainable, root cause solutions to address not only digestive symptoms but the downstream problems it causes such as depression/anxiety, weight gain, fatigue, joint pain, eczema, acne, and hair loss. - Dr. Katherine treats: IBS, IBD (Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s) , Bile Malabsorption, diverticulosis/diverticulitis, SIBO, chronic constipation of diarrhea, heartburn, fatty liver Mental health - Dr. Katherine approaches mental health with an evidence informed, wholistic approach. She has a deep understanding that anxiety and depression require personalized, multifaceted care which includes nutrition, supplemental, and neurotransmitter support. She focuses on the root cause of WHY you experience anxiety and depression, treating both mental and physical causes of these conditions. - Dr. Katherine treats anxiety, depression, stress disorders, PMDD, and chronic fatigue syndrome Pain management - Dr. Katherine has a passion for treating pain through evidence informed treatment protocols both internally and externally. She understands the importance of treating the internal inflammatory pathways causing/worsening pain while simultaneously treating the physical pain through needling and injection techniques. She also teaches internationally at chiropractic seminars on optimizing adjustment techniques for small practitioners. Dr. Katherine is also a contributing author to several text books including joint mobilization, orthopedic conditions, and physical medicine.
Acupuncture
Cupping and Gua Sha treatments are tailored for patients who do not want needles. It promotes healing and has been used extensively for sore muscles and chronic pain by using suction and moving techniques to improve circulation, relax muscles, and improve range of motion.
