Sylvia is a compassionate, intuitive, and skilled practitioner who brings warmth, humour, and genuine care to every client interaction. Sylvia’s firsthand experience with pain has shaped her approach to treatment and deepened her commitment to helping others. A lifelong learner, she completed a Master of Clinical Science in Interprofessional Pain Management at Western University in 2023. Recently, Sylvia completed courses in Applied Neurology, expanding her understanding of the relationship between the brain, nervous system regulation, pain, and movement. Applied Neurology is a brain-based approach that focuses on how the visual, balance, and sensory-motor systems influence the way the nervous system responds and adapts. By using targeted assessments and exercises to stimulate these systems, it can provide additional tools to help improve movement, reduce sensitivity, support regulation of the stress response, and enhance overall function. It requires active dedication by the patient in performing short daily drills. This approach can be billed under massage therapy. An Applied Neurology session is very different from a massage therapy session but naturally complements it. It supports Sylvia’s goal of helping clients with persistent pain, musculoskeletal concerns, or overactive nervous systems find new pathways toward greater ease, balance and well-being. This is also an approach which can be helpful for athletes wishing to hone their performance level.
