Registered Massage Therapist Labour Support Coach & Doula Infant Massage Therapy Graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2015 Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University in 2021 Before studying Massage Therapy, she came from a background in dance; both performing and teaching. She loves working as a massage therapist because it allows her to combine her love of science with the art of health care in a personalized environment, integrating her background in movement with her anatomy training to provide therapeutic relief. She utilizes her experience in dance and her background in movement to better understand clients’ specific needs — whether it is an injury focused treatment to regain strength and remove pain, or simply to help with common body fatigue to decrease tension. An area Yvonne has continued to study is perinatal massage - to broaden her skills to safely assess, treat and provide home-care for all stages of pregnancy as well as postpartum. Yvonne now provides Infant Massage as part of her practice. Infant Massage is a treatment-based approach to alleviate physiological ailments such as colic, gas and constipation. It can also assist musculoskeletal concerns that may be a result of birth traumas such as breach positioning, forceps and vacuum delivery. Infant Massage therapy can be used as a bonding experience to introduce touch therapy which can help strengthen human connection. Infant massage through touch therapy is a unique physical experience to learn vocal and physical cues from your baby. Infant massage appointments operate as a baby/client centered approach where you and the Registered Massage Therapist will engage in a conversation to assess the needs of your infant and address those goals through massage. The treatment will conclude with the option of homecare where the therapist will teach you basic skills to massage your infant at home.
