Tom received his Master of Physiotherapy degree from the University of British Columbia in 2018. He has since built his practice in orthopaedics and sports injury rehabilitation. Tom has completed post-grad courses in manual therapy and pain science. He is currently working on a PhD at Simon Fraser University to “improve running injury research.” Tom has worked with athletes of all levels in numerous sports from professional football (CFL) to recreational climbers. He worked with the UBC varsity track and cross-country running teams and the University of Calgary’s Running Injury Clinic. Tom is a former national-level cross-country runner and has coached local running athletes from the learn-to-run to marathon distances. His experiences have led to a keen interest in working with runners. Tom’s practice philosophy is to provide education and advice to promote self-management. He considers the ‘whole person,’ the context of their pain experience, and works together with his clients to create a treatment plan that targets their goals. In addition, Tom combines hands-on manual therapy, soft tissue techniques and therapeutic exercise. He welcomes all types of clients with injuries, painful conditions or concerns. In his free time, he enjoys cross-country skiing, hiking and participating in the Vancouver running scene.
