Mikaela is excited to be back in Kamloops with the DM Wellness team. After six years as a Registered Massage Therapist at Dimensional Massage Therapy, she completed her Master of Physical Therapy at UBC and is now a registered physiotherapist. Since becoming an RMT in 2014, Mikaela has enjoyed helping people find relief through hands-on care. Over time, she felt inspired to expand her skills through physiotherapy, allowing her to offer evidence-based, exercise-focused treatment alongside manual therapy. Working primarily as a physiotherapist now, Mikaela brings her knowledge of massage therapy and hands-on skills into her practice. Her approach begins with a thorough assessment to understand the root of your issue. She then creates a plan based on your goals that combines exercise progressions with techniques such as gentle and deep tissue work, joint mobilizations, nerve-specific treatments (dermoneuromodulation), and occasionally visceral manipulation. This is supported by home-care strategies, aiming to empower patients as active partners in their healing. Mikaela has a special interest in nerve conditions and chronic pain, an area she explored further during her physiotherapy practicums with WorkSafe’s PMMP program and at RIH’s inpatient neurological rehabilitation unit. She plans to continue her education in these areas. Her experience also includes supporting patients with everyday injuries, headaches, post-surgical recovery, workplace and motor vehicle injuries, and neurological conditions. Whether this is your first time seeking care or you’re just looking for the right fit, Mikaela is passionate about helping you get back to what you love, ensuring pain doesn’t control your life. Outside the clinic, Mikaela loves hiking and skiing with her husband, or spending time at the barn with her young horse, Tezo. Note: Mikaela does not currently do any type of needling (acupuncture/dry needling/IMS) – but hopes to attain these credentials in the future
