Since I was a young girl I have been fascinated with the human body with a specific interest in the vast amount of change that occurs during the Childbearing Year. That passion lead me to study homebirth midwifery from 2011-2016. I attended, and completed a rigorous midwifery program in Portland, Oregon before moving to Southern Oregon to complete my clinical work. I have attended approximately 40 births as a student midwife and doula. My passion and drive were strong, however, to be a homebirth midwife is choosing a lifestyle which became far too demanding on my mental health. In 2017 I chose to follow a different path within the healing practices and began massage school at Ashland Institute of Massage. I absolutely fell in love with massage and the wide range of modalities available. Currently I specialize in prenatal and postpartum massage, but DON'T limit my practice to only this population. I utilize a combination of therapeutic, myofascial release, Swedish, Thai, and hot stone, massage to treat my clients. In my free time I love playing with my children, going on long walks in the woods, sharing time and space with my community, river rafting and virtually anything that gets me outdoors with the people I love.
Therapeutic massage is a gentle, supportive way to ease pain, release stress, and restore balance. Rather than following a set formula, each session unfolds based on what your body needs in the moment. A blend of modalities may be woven throughout, including Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Thai, Lymphatic Drainage, Hot Stone, and Craniosacral Therapy. At Little Tree Massage & Wellness, Val works intuitively and holistically, listening to both the physical body and its subtle energetic signals.
