Kara graduated with honours from Sheridan College with a Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences degree in Athletic Therapy. She developed a passion for learning how the human body works while in high school which lead to her first degree in Human Kinetics at University of Guelph. Kara’s combined interest in weight lifting and helping people led her to be a personal trainer for 2 years. This is where she developed an interest in assessing someone’s imbalances and using mobility, flexibility, and strength exercises to correct them. Kara felt extremely fulfilled when her clients reported finally being able to complete certain tasks with ease and without pain. This inspired her to continue her education and enter the Athletic Therapy program, with the goal of helping more people. Kara has helped rehabilitate acute injuries, chronic musculoskeletal conditions, and post-surgical recoveries. Her treatment style combines manual treatment (massage, active release, joint mobilizations) and therapeutic exercise. She also focuses on injury prevention, using strengthening, stretching, and mobility exercises to ensure optimal performance. She tailors her rehabilitation programs to the specific goals and needs of the client and has a full body approach to recovery. Kara’s goal is to get you pain-free and back to doing what you love, regardless of sport, occupation, or activity. On the field, Kara has worked with a variety of sports and age groups. She has worked with football, hockey, rugby, and lacrosse teams, with majority of her time spent with football. Kara was the lead Athletic Therapist for the Hamilton Hurricanes of the CJFL for their 2024 season. She has worked for the Burlington Stampeders for many seasons, with ages ranging from 8 to 18 years old. She spent some time with the Toronto Argonauts during their 2022 season as well as the University of Guelph varsity football team. Kara has been Nelson High School’s Athletic Therapist for several seasons, working with their football, hockey, and rugby teams. She is also currently working for the Haudenosaunee Men’s U20 lacrosse team. Kara has a passion for overall health, fitness, and longevity. She believes educating her patients on their injury and the elements of their specific rehabilitation program is crucial. Kara not only focuses on the injury site, but she finds and treats the cause, ensuring the pain is gone for good for her patients.
