Growing up in a sports-oriented family, sports has been a huge influence in my life. I trained rigorously in the specific sports I played (soccer and basketball) but also experienced minor injuries that prevented me from competing at the level I wanted to compete at. I am grateful, though, that I did not face many major injuries. However, I did witness a lot of my teammates and family members endure many injuries and complications that in some cases concluded their sports careers. This created a desire for me to learn more about the human body and understand why these injuries occur. I wanted to learn the different techniques for proper rehabilitation and training, and possibly even doing things that would prevent those injuries from occurring in the first place. I attained a bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia in the Okanagan. After graduating, I wanted to share my passion with the general population in hopes that they too can learn more about how their injuries and how their body functions. I hope to bring new ideas and different training methods to help achieve both their fitness goals and optimal health goals. Along with my bachelor’s degree I also attain certifications in personal training, corrective exercise and youth exercise with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Along with working at Legacies, I also work as a support worker and coach for a non-profit organization called Canucks Autism Network. During these programs, I share my knowledge of sports with the children hoping they gain an interest in being/becoming active.
