Dr. Adrienne McConnell is a Chiropractor, Acupuncture Provider, Certified Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor. She earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, and received a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Kinesiology from York University. Dr. Adrienne was diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis during adolescence and has long suffered minor weakness and pain in her back. After suffering a burst fracture in her spine in 2005, her physiotherapist recommended Pilates as part of her rehab to regain strength and stability in her spine. This sparked her interest in spinal health and the important role of exercise and functional movement in rehabilitation. She has practiced Pilates for over 10 years and became certified during her Kinesiology degree to enhance rehabilitation with personal training clients. Dr. Adrienne is passionate about Pilates, and she believes it can help improve your body awareness and quality of movement in everyday life. Pilates can be gentle or challenging, and can really compliment other forms of fitness and training. After giving birth to her daughter Pilates was an integral part of bouncing back to pre-pregnancy health, and Dr. Adrienne has a keen interest in pre and post-natal care. However the stability and controlled mobility gained from Pilates training can benefit everyone from athletes to office workers. Dr. Adrienne is trained in Functional Integrated Acupuncture, Active Release Technique, Functional Range Release, and Functional Range Conditioning. Her treatments may include joint manipulation and/or mobilizations, acupuncture, and various soft tissue techniques. She loves to educate her patients on healthy movement and encourages active participation in their health through exercise. She has a special interest in new mothers, elderly persons, adolescent athletes, persons with diabetes, and people with various rehabilitation needs.
