Dr. Zeynep Akkuyu is a devoted naturopathic physician and Menopause Society member—the internationally recognized gold standard in menopause and midlife women’s healthcare. She offers thoughtful, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s unique health goals. Dr. Zey earned her Bachelor of Applied Science from Toronto Metropolitan University and went on to earn her Doctor of Naturopathy degree. For nine years, she volunteered in long-term care and palliative care settings in Toronto, enriching her understanding of medicine, compassion and community. She completed an internship at the Toronto Birth Centre, a pioneering midwife-led facility specializing in pregnancy, labor, and lactation care, further refining her understanding of women’s health. These valuable experiences have instilled in Dr. Zey a deep sense of empathy and a comprehensive approach to patient care at every stage of life. Dr. Zey has completed advanced hormone-focused training, including training through the Menopause Society, specialized education in hormone therapy with International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH), and a Women’s Health and Menopause mini-fellowship from Harvard Medical School. With a keen focus on individualized treatment plans, Dr. Zey has a clinical focus in: Thyroid Disease: Drawing from lifelong learning and navigating the challenges of her own thyroid health, she employs evidence-based therapies to address thyroid disorders. Her approach seeks to provide sustainable solutions to the complex problems posed by thyroid conditions like fatigue, weight changes, menstrual irregularities, mood disturbances among others. Dr. Zey has additional training in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and safely prescribes hormones like estrogen and progesterone to support women through early menopause, surgical menopause, perimenopause, menopause , and postmenopause. Fatigue and Energy: Recognizing the pervasive impact of fatigue on daily life, Dr. Zey utilizes evidence-based strategies to identify and address the underlying causes, helping patients regain their energy and vitality. Dermatological Conditions: Dr. Zey understands the connection between skin health and overall well-being. Her approach to dermatological concerns combines evidence-based therapies with a holistic perspective for lasting results. She enjoys treating eczema, psoriasis, acne, seborrheic dermatitis, perioral dermatitis among other skin concerns. She has additional training in aesthetic treatments and prides herself in providing natural results.
