Christie has been working as a Registered Massage Therapist since 2017 and loves her job more every year. One of the things that she continues to be amazed about is that there is always something new to learn about the human body. Christie has found that keeping this in mind has helped to develop her approach to massage, prompting her to always look for ways to approach treatment in the way that is going to be best received by the individual. Christie most often gives therapeutic massage treatments for the reduction of pain and/or inflammation. To that end she has taken continuing education courses through her association (the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba - MTAM) such as: Dermoneuromodulation: a slow and gentle approach to moderating pain. It is most appropriate to use with acute injuries, chronic nerve pain, and where anxiety is high. Neurovascular Release: a technique that releases tension in nerve and blood vessel tissue, helping to reduce overall tension and especially the sensation of deep tension. Christie is also happy to provide massage for the purposes of relaxation, maintenance of chronic tension, and prevention of flare-ups (such as can happen when someone has had a bad injury in the past or has an inflammatory condition). Outside of work Christie’s favourite activities are reading, knitting, walking in the woods with her dog, and brewing new flavours of water kefir.
