About Shelby I graduated from the University of Calgary in 2017 with a Bachelors in Kinesiology. After my degree, I worked as a Kinesiologist for four years, which allowed me to gain experience in the rehabilitation world, but I always knew that my end goal was Physiotherapy. In 2021, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and applied to Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland, where I obtained my Master’s in Physiotherapy with Merit in December 2022, before returning home to Southern Alberta. Growing up, I played a variety of different sports, with hockey, baseball, and golf serving as my main focuses. During my undergraduate degree, I played hockey for the Calgary Warriors in the AJFHL, but in my third year, I unfortunately suffered an ACL injury. This exposure to the world of rehabilitation and performance had a massive influence on my decision to pursue physiotherapy for my own career. Currently, I play recreational hockey, strength train, and play golf as often as I can, even though my handicap won’t show it! I became a Physiotherapist because I truly want to help others return to doing the things they love, whether that’s in sport, at work, or in their everyday activities. This is something I hope to achieve through evidence-based practice, exercise-based rehabilitation, and patient education.
