Acupuncture Center - A Collective of Independent Practitioners

19415 Deerfield Ave, Suite 201, Lansdowne, VA, 20176

After a decade in the business world, Sharon shifted her career focus to health care. After receiving certification in Massage Therapy from the Potomac Massage Therapy Institute and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from George Mason University she “discovered” acupuncture when she received acupuncture treatment as a patient for her own medical condition. Amazed at the results, she started acupuncture school at the (then) Tai Sophia Institute in Columbia, MD and has been in steady practice since September 2000. During her acupuncture career, Sharon has volunteered time to support the profession as a Board Member of the Acupuncture Society of Virginia and a gubernatorial appointee to the Virginia Board of Medicine’s Acupuncture Advisory Council. She has also volunteered with overseas work for Acupuncturists Without Borders.

Treatments may include Acupuncture, Medical Qigong, Aroma-point therapy with essential oils, and Acupressure. Options will be discussed with the patient. Each session is unique, and most involve some combination of Traditional Acupuncture according to the Five Element Theory of Chinese Medicine, Medical QiGong energy work, Aroma-Point Therapy using a diluted drop of essential oil placed on an acupuncture point to potentiate both the power of the point and the healing quality of the oil, and Acupressure by applying a gentle touch on an acupuncture point or points to disperse, tonify, or modulate the property of the point.
