**Rosa Rong Du, R.TCMP** Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner **Have you been told your results are normal, while you still don't feel like yourself?** That answer is a hard one to live with. You know what changed. You can describe it. It just doesn't show up anywhere on paper, so you've been carrying it on your own. Rosa works from what your body is doing now. She'll ask about the parts that never make it into a ten-minute appointment, and she'll tell you honestly what she thinks she can do. **Most people come to Rosa for one of three things.** Something that's been building for years. Tiredness that sleep doesn't fix. Digestion that turned unpredictable. Sleep that got shorter each year. Headaches, tension, low mood, a body that stopped bouncing back. Something your doctor is already treating. You have a diagnosis and a plan, and you want support alongside it. Palpitations, dizziness, headaches, blood pressure that won't settle. Rosa spent thirty years in cardiovascular and critical care before Chinese medicine, so this is familiar ground for her. Something to do with your cycle. This is the work she is deepest in. Periods that are irregular, painful, too heavy or too light. Perimenopause and menopause. Preparing for pregnancy, or being pregnant now. Her family brought one more thing into her practice. They were known in their own community for their work with stroke recovery, Parkinson's, and other conditions affecting the nerves and muscles, using scalp acupuncture — very fine needles placed on specific areas of the head. Rosa learned it from them over years, and it's still part of how she practises. **She has seen medicine from both sides** Before Chinese medicine became her profession, Rosa spent more than thirty years in Western medicine, in cardiovascular and critical care, in China and later in Canada. She knows what a hospital corridor feels like at two in the morning. She knows what it is to receive a serious diagnosis and be told very little afterward. She knows the other version too — being told everything is fine while you can feel perfectly well that something has changed. So when you bring her your reports, she can read them. She works alongside what your doctor has prescribed, and she'll tell you in plain words what she plans to do next. Why she asks about your mood and your sleep For most patients, they arrive together with everything else. Rosa reads your mood, your sleep and your main complaint as one picture. When one of them settles, the others usually begin to move. You may have noticed that yourself already, without anyone confirming it for you. **What your first visit looks like** Most of your first appointment is conversation. That's where the pattern shows itself. Rosa will take your history properly — what's happening now, how long it's been going on, how you sleep, how you eat, what your energy does through the day, and what has been sitting on you lately. She'll look at your tongue and take your pulses, which is how Chinese medicine reads patterns the way a blood test reads levels. Then she'll tell you what she's seeing, what she'd like to try first, and roughly how many visits before you should expect to notice something. If she doesn't think she's the right person for it, she'll say so. You'll usually have treatment the same visit. Acupuncture, cupping, or tuina, which is a Chinese form of hands-on therapy. **How she'd like to work with you** Rosa's belief is that the best time to take care of something is while it is still small. Most of what she sees has been building quietly for years. A cycle that got a little worse each season. Sleep that got a little shorter. A body that stopped bouncing back the way it used to. Quiet enough to live with, heavy enough to wear you down. She uses acupuncture, cupping, Chinese herbal medicine and tuina together rather than one at a time, because she's working with the whole pattern behind your symptoms. What she's working toward with you is simple enough to say out loud: sleeping better, steadier energy through your day, and a body that feels more predictable to live in. **Outside the clinic** Rosa is happiest close to nature — in her garden, on her bike, out on the trails. She visits museums when she travels. She also has one habit that is entirely her own. Wherever she goes in the world, she'll spend half a day finding a local hospital or clinic just to visit, so she can see for herself what people there need and how they're cared for. Thirty years in, she's still curious about how medicine is practised everywhere she lands. **Booking with Rosa** Rosa practices at Main Street RMT & Wellness in Newmarket. She is registered with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario, and her treatments are covered by most extended health plans that include acupuncture. She speaks English and Mandarin. If you're not sure whether this is the right fit, book the first visit and ask her. That conversation is what the first appointment is for.
