Amy is a practicing kinesiologist and an associate somatic movement professional. She has been studying, exploring, and working in the field of movement for over 30 years. Her movement background encompasses practices of kinesiology, dance, tai chi, Qigong, the Pilates method, Self-Regulation Therapy, Body & Earth somatic movement practices, and Continuum & Continuum Montage. Amy brings a grounded presence and a spirit of collaborative inquiry to her work, drawing upon a broad spectrum of somatic and trauma-informed movement approaches. Her individual sessions offer participants opportunities to develop increased possibility for movement, to cultivate attunement with their own somatic intelligence, and to reconnect to their full range of embodied expression. In this time of climate dysregulation and great challenge, connecting to our own embodied wisdom can be a resource for being present and having creative ability to meet the gifts and challenges of this moment. As we develop and support our capacity to move with ease and joy, and to feel more fully present in our bodies, we can have more compassion for being in the world. A typical session may include use of specific movement forms (such as the Pilates method, Qigong movement, Continuum Montage), mindfulness awareness practices, breath and movement explorations, manual therapy (such as visceral manipulation, hands-on alignment guidance, and assisted stretching), somatic-based trauma resolution modalities, as well as sensory and perceptual awareness work. ICBC kinesiology is available with treatment plan approval by adjustor (please pay directly for sessions and receipts will be provided for reimbursement).
