Clinical Interests Sports and orthopaedic injury rehab Functional Dry Needling TMJ (Jaw) dysfunction Chronic headaches Vestibular Rehab Biography Robertson graduated from the University of St. Augustine in 2003 with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Prior to that he earned a Bachelors in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University in 1999. His Doctorate coursework focused on orthopaedic manual therapy techniques for the spine and extremities, including the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Postgraduate training in vestibular rehabilitation followed in 2006. Seeing the need to complement his manual therapy skills, Robertson completed his Functional Dry Needling Level 1 certification in 2014, followed by Level 2 certification in 2019. Robertson has primarily worked in private practice sports and orthopaedic physiotherapy clinics during his career. He has also worked at VGH, LGH and Richmond Hospital in various inpatient settings. Robertson’s clinical approach is based on taking a detailed history followed by a thorough assessment and diagnosis. He then uses a combination of manual therapy, functional dry needling, therapeutic modalities, and exercises to restore pain free movement and function. Clients will be educated about their diagnosis and treatment plan along the way, and a home exercise program will be given if needed. The ultimate goal is to correct the underlying problem rather than treating just the symptoms.
