Before beginning her career in massage therapy, Mattea was a certified personal trainer, working specifically in rehabilitation exercise as a physiotherapy assistant in Okotoks. Athletics and physical well-being have always been one of her passions. In 2016, Mattea began working with the front desk admin at our clinic and began her schooling for massage therapy in 2018. She graduated from the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in 2020 as an RMT and also completed her first year of acupuncture, however her second and third year of acupuncture training are on hold after having twin girls in September 2020. Mattea grew up in the foothills with a deep love and appreciation for the outdoors. With hobbies including horseback riding, hiking and backpacking, exercise, yoga and running, Mattea’s believes firmly in home-care and staying active to increase the benefits of your massage treatments. She uses the fundamentals of orthopaedic assessment to accurately recognize and treat dysfunctions and sends her clients home with the tools to prevent re-injury and future issues. Having studied Chinese massage and meridians, she also enjoys performing the occasional relaxation massage, incorporating acupressure and cupping and the 12 meridian concept.
