Hello, my name is Eleanor! I am an acupuncturist and practitioner of Chinese Medicine, and I am excited to be joining the team at Apex Wellness Center. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about who I am. I grew up in Detroit (Michigan, not Oregon!) and I chose to make Portland my home when I arrived over 20 years ago and fell in love with it. Since then, I have only grown to love this place more as I have explored the surrounding area through hiking and backpacking and put down roots. When my interest turned to Chinese Medicine, I felt fortunate that there were multiple great programs here in town to choose from and attended NUNM. I have been amazed at the potential for healing that Chinese Medicine possesses. I feel incredibly honored to be part of this process for my patients, guiding and supporting them on their unique journeys toward health and well-being. I integrate a variety of techniques, tailoring each treatment to the needs and preferences of the patient, from very gentle needling to more intense modalities like Saam and orthopedic acupuncture. I also bring in complementary therapies such as cupping, moxibustion, qigong tuina (a form of therapeutic bodywork), and craniosacral therapy to help create a space of deep stillness and relaxation where the body can heal. Creating a Safe and Inclusive Healing Space Studying Chinese Medicine has given me a concrete framework in which to enact my deep empathy for others. It is essential to me that my practice reflects my values. I strive to cultivate a nonjudgmental and inclusive environment for all my patients, ensuring that everyone feels seen, heard, and respected. In addition, I incorporate contemporary approaches like body positivity and harm reduction into the ancient practices of Chinese Medicine, finding ways to keep the medicine rooted in its traditions while making it accessible and relevant to our modern world. Outside the Clinic When I’m not treating patients, you might find me practicing qigong, hiking or backpacking, baking, or spending time with my partner and friends. I also enjoy dancing, reading, and sipping tea in the company of a good book. These practices help me stay connected to myself and continue to replenish my energy so that I can be fully present for my patients. Thank you for taking the time to read about my journey and approach to healing. I am so grateful to be able to share this path with all of you, and I look forward to having the opportunity to support your health and well-being. Hope to meet you soon! Warmly, Eleanor Jones Licensed Acupuncturist & Chinese Medicine Practitioner
