Shannon Mattson, Reiki Master, is a registered nurse who has always had a strong interest in natural and holistic modalities. She completed the first two levels of Reiki using it as a hobby, mostly on family and friends. In 2014, after witnessing a suicide, she looked to western medicine for numbing medications to deal with this trauma. Unwanted side effects encouraged her to return to her roots, taking a holistic approach to grief management. Shannon felt moved to complete her final level of Reiki training and her hobby matured into a passion. Reiki was a major component in her emotional healing and she feels called to share this gift with others, especially those who struggle with depression and anxiety, or have been affected by suicide. Shannon has additional training in aromatherapy, acupressure, and crystal work and often incorporates what she has learned into her Reiki sessions. She serves on the Integrative Health and Healing (IHH) Advisory Committee assisting to guide and shape the IHH program at Anoka Ramsey Community College. She is also a volunteer healer at Unity North Spiritual Center and is a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals.
