Tanya Cates, RMT The Okanagan Valley has been my home since I was born. I continually enjoys its great beauty and nature through gardening, cooking with fresh and local food, and outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and camping with my husband and two young daughters. After graduating high school, I focused my career in culinary arts, where I was awarded a Red Seal certification as a professional chef at Okanagan College in 2010. However, the typical fast pace of that business became juxtaposed to my interest in helping people. With this experience and insight, I refocused my career on something more complimentary – the healing arts. In 2012 therefore, I completed my certification in holistic nutrition, through the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, which later expanded to include massage therapy. I graduated from Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in December 2016, and completed my Board certification in March, 2017. My patients receive a tailored therapeutic approach, where a combination of lighter techniques such as myofacial release combined with trigger point therapy may be used. My balanced methodology helps my patients achieve wellness from a range of issues including headaches, migraines, chronic pain, sports injuries, and postural dysfunctions.
