Dr. Julie Nelson TCM
#210 - 2233 Burrard St, Vancouver, BC, V6J 3H9
Brooke graduated with honours from Vancouver College of Massage Therapy, following her post-secondary education of a Bachelors Degree in Human Kinetics and Psychology from the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Throughout her academic journey, she gained extensive hands-on experience working with patients of all ages, addressing a wide range of conditions such as acute and chronic orthopedic issues, post-surgery rehabilitation, spinal cord injuries, stress, headaches, whiplash, and various systemic ailments. Brooke has developed a special interest in treating the complexities of jaw pain, discomfort, and dysfunction. TMJ dysfunction can result in headaches, neck pain, difficulty chewing, jaw clicking, and other issues. The treatment involves a combination of manual therapy techniques to alleviate these symptoms with an approach that includes soft tissue work, intraoral massage, joint mobilizations, and corrective exercises aimed at reducing tension in the muscles surrounding the jaw. Growing up playing competitive sports, she experienced plenty of her own injuries and found relief from a variety of treatment modalities. It was her love for exercise and movement that solidified her decision in becoming an RMT. She still remains active by playing slow pitch and golf in the summer, snowboarding in the winter, and running and hiking all year round. In her practice, Brooke incorporates a variety of techniques tailored to each patient’s needs, including Swedish massage, deep tissue work, trigger point release, stretching, and joint mobilizations. She has a strong passion for learning and understanding how the body works in order to provide a safe and effective treatment plan for her patients. *Brooke is currently not able to offer direct billing, and is not accepting new patients with open WSBC claims at this time* www.brookeelphickrmt.com email: [email protected]
