As an Acupuncturist of 9 years and Bodyworker of 26 years, Amy brings knowledge of both Western anatomy and physiology, Eastern medical theory and Auriculotherapy to her treatments. Amy specializes in Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Acupuncture. She is an expert in Dry Needling and has mentored numerous other acupuncturists in the technique. Amy is a passionate and dedicated practitioner and has studied extensively under a variety of recognized mentors. She combines a variety of acupuncture treatments including: Sports Medicine Acupuncture Balance Method Acupuncture Tung Style Acupuncture Auriculotherapy Scalp Acupuncture Trigger Point/Dry Needling Neurofunctional Acupuncture Electroacupuncture Medicine Utilizing a detailed intake process, postural analysis, manual muscle tests, and traditional diagnostic methods, Amy works to create the most effective treatments and treatment plans for her patients. She receives each person with an open mind and provides a safe and private space where patients can ask questions and speak openly about their health and well-being. An acupuncture session often includes ancillary therapies including Cupping, Gua Sha, Moxibustion, Kinesiotaping, PNF Stretches, Myofascial Release and Infrared Heat Therapy, which are chosen based on the patient’s needs at that time. Amy specializes in treating orthopedic/musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries and chronic pain. Additional conditions treated include anxiety/sympathetic dominance, post-surgical pain, pre-surgery pre-hab, headaches migraines, women’s health and digestive issues. Amy has studied under respected mentors in orthopedics and neurology including Matt Callisen, Jaime Chaves, Dr. David Alimi, Jamie Hampton, Poney Chiang, Dr. Jason Hao, and Daun Jeong, among others. Rather than seeing Eastern and Western medicine at odds, Amy considers this to be an exciting time during which the two can work together in the best interest of patients. She has been an active member with the Association for Professional Acupuncture in Pennsylvania, traveling to Harrisburg to advocate for the acupuncture profession. She is passionate about education and fostering cooperation within the local acupuncture community. Amy has brought in mentors, hosted, and assisted in workshops in Pittsburgh in order to promote and support orthopedic acupuncture and acupuncturists in the region. Amy holds a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture from The Won Institute of Graduate Studies and Nationally Board-Certified through the NCCAOM and is a Licensed Acupuncturist under the Pennsylvania State Medical Board.
