Dr Riley Anderson, ND 1962
Essence Wellness Clinic
Dr. Riley began his journey into naturopathic medicine while still in grade school. At this time, his mother was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis; a debilitating neurological disease. Having already lost his aunt to this condition, Dr. Riley became determined to help his mother however he could. He spent countless nights after school researching natural treatment strategies to improve his mother's symptoms beyond the standard medical model. Through dietary changes, stress-management techniques, movement, and targeted supplements, his mother continues to live a full and vibrant life. Dr. Riley has also experienced the harms of overprescribed medications first-hand. As a young adult, he met with his medical doctor to discuss low energy, difficulty sleeping, and other symptoms often consistent with depression. He was prescribed a popular anti-depressant which he was unresponsive to, and so, the recommended dosage was eventually increased to the maximum amount. This made things exponentially worse and it was only through holistic therapies that Dr. Riley began to truly heal. Today, Dr. Riley delivers compassionate and effective care to all of his patients. He firmly believes that everyone has the innate capacity to improve their situation and overcome their struggles. He received his Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of Calgary and earned his Doctor of Naturopathy degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). He has additional training in Sports Medicine and is a member of the Psychiatric Association of Naturopathic Doctors, blending both physical and mental health in his style of practice. Outside of clinic life, Dr. Riley enjoys music & songwriting, playing darts, exercising, and reading philosophy. His clinical focus includes health optimization, hormonal health, digestive health, mental wellness, weight loss, fatigue, and auto-immunity. "Through intention, repetition, and grace, anything is possible."
